About this role
The Management Trainee Officer – Category Planner will support the planning, analysis, and optimization of bakery product categories to drive sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction. The role involves working closely with production, sales, and supply chain teams to ensure effective assortment planning, demand forecasting, and inventory management.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and managing bakery product categories based on sales trends and customer demand
- Analyze sales data, market trends, and consumer preferences to optimize product assortment
- Support demand forecasting and coordinate with production teams to ensure product availability
- Monitor inventory levels and minimize wastage, especially for perishable bakery items
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams for promotions, new product launches, and seasonal offerings
- Track category performance (sales, margins, turnover) and prepare regular reports
- Conduct competitor analysis and suggest improvements in pricing, variety, and positioning
- Ensure proper product display and category visibility at outlets (if retail linked)
- Identify opportunities for category growth and process improvements
- Support senior category planners in strategic decision-making and execution
